Medieval Banquet

The MCT are to hold a fund raising Banquet in honour of William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke to mark the 800th anniversary of the Siege of Mountsorrel.apple

It will be held in the shadow of Mountsorrel Castle Mount. The concert hall (at the WMC) will be transformed into the great baronial hall with candlelit tables dressed in medieval style.

The much sought-after tickets will make an ideal Christmas gift for the one you love, or a great group idea for friends or colleagues.

The Banquet will be held on Saturday 8th April 2017 starting at 19:30 and finishing at 23:30.

Christmas Lights Event – Friday 2nd December

We have been working to try and bring an MCT twist to the Christmas lights switch-on but unfortunately our plans have been rejected. As such the switch-on will revert to its traditional Friday evening slot on 2nd December. We apologise to any Mountsorrel people that were hoping to see what we could do to enhance this festive event but this will not now be possible in 2016.

Members of the MCT will however be present at this year’s event canvasing opinion with regard to what people would like to see next year. Please look out for one of us (we’ll be wearing Orange reflective jackets) if you would like to tell us what you’d like to see in 2017.

Our Community Hero

Great News!

Ian Shonk who created the REVIVAL in 2014, ran it again in 2015 and has now setup the Mountsorrel Community Team to run it in future years so that he can focus on bringing other great community events to Mountsorrel has been rewarded for his hard work. He has been given a Community Hero award by Charnwood Borough Council for, “his tremendous hard work within Charnwood”.   Well done, Ian!

The Sorrel Street Sprint

We have just added the, ‘Sorrel Street Sprint’ to the REVIVAL Parade. It’s a ‘fun run’ in front of the Parade at 12:00 from the Green to Stonehurst farm. Come along and join in – come in fancy dress if you wish. It’s just a bit of fun to build the atmosphere ahead of the parade.

Get to run down the middle of the main road all the way without worrying about the traffic. 🙂

Prizes for first place and the wackiest outfit.

Entry fee is £1.00. Pay on the day at the control point near the library (Sorrel Youth Café side). Note: Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Donation to the MCT

Robert Gee and his partner Ruth Mary Jewell have been so impressed with what the MCT are doing in Mountsorrel that they attended the MCT May meeting and presented them with a cheque for £100. The donation was very gratefully accepted by our Chair, Deb MacRae on behalf of the team. The money will be used to enhance events planned for the Village over the next few months. Visit this website regularly to keep up to date with the MCT programme.
