An outline of the basic rules for each competition are set out below. You must view the full set of Competition Rules before registering.

There are a maximum of 30 places in each competition.

Photography Competition

Prizes: sponsored by HS Footcare, Halstead Road

All non-professional photographers can enter.

The theme is ‘What Mountsorrel Means to Me’. Entrants can submit a maximum of 3 photographs entered as prints up to 8” by 10” (203 mm x 254 mm) in size. Prints may be Black & White or Colour.

Entrants can enhance a photograph to make it brighter, clearer etc, but not manipulate its content.

Prints should not be framed but may be mounted on white card. Optionally each print may be given a title.

Judging will consider a range of factors including how well they illustrate the theme of the competition, composition, originality, and technical ability. Age will be taken into consideration if 16 or under.

Baking Competition

Prizes: sponsored by HS Footcare, Halstead Road

All non-professional bakers can enter.

Entrants must submit a single Victoria Sponge containing just jam. A layer of caster sugar or similar may be sprinkled on top.

Cakes should be displayed on a plate covered with cling film.

Cakes will be judged on presentation, texture, and taste. Age will be taken into consideration if 16 or under.

Miniature Garden Competition

Prizes: sponsored by the Mountsorrel Community Team

Only young people aged 12 or under may enter.

The theme is ‘Jubilee’

Each Garden should be constructed in a tin, plastic box, or equivalent measuring no more than 305 mm (12”) by 305 mm (12”).

Entrants may construct and decorate their garden using any materials they choose.

Entries will be judged on creative content, originality and the age of the decorator.
