The ‘Birch’, Leicester City legend and club ambassador has agreed to come along and judge our Fancy Dress competition and hopefully give out the medals to the Fun Runners too!! Keep an eye out for him on the Green from about 12 o’clock.
Ian Shonk, architect of the Mountsorrel REVIVAL, is also the organiser of the Soap Box race at our event. This year though he raised the stakes and, along with a few friends, entered the Red Bull Soap Box race which was held this year at Alexandra Palace in front of 20,000 people. And guess what? They won!!

REVIVAL was featured on Ben Jackson’s mid-morning show today (Thursday 11th May) when Ian Shonk and Ross Tomlyn went along to promote the event on local radio.
You can listen to the session here by clicking the following picture of Ben to take you to the catch up page on the radio Leicester site. Then press play to start the programme playback and finally scroll through to about the 1 hour and 36 minutes mark to hear the slot.
This year’s Pancake Race will be held in the Sorrel Youth Cafe or outside on the Green depending on the weather on Sunday 5th March. It’s FREE and lots of fun for all of the Family. Find out more.

The MCT are to hold a fund raising Banquet in honour of William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke to mark the 800th anniversary of the Siege of Mountsorrel.
It will be held in the shadow of Mountsorrel Castle Mount. The concert hall (at the WMC) will be transformed into the great baronial hall with candlelit tables dressed in medieval style.
The much sought-after tickets will make an ideal Christmas gift for the one you love, or a great group idea for friends or colleagues.
The Banquet will be held on Saturday 8th April 2017 starting at 19:30 and finishing at 23:30.
We have been working to try and bring an MCT twist to the Christmas lights switch-on but unfortunately our plans have been rejected. As such the switch-on will revert to its traditional Friday evening slot on 2nd December. We apologise to any Mountsorrel people that were hoping to see what we could do to enhance this festive event but this will not now be possible in 2016.
Members of the MCT will however be present at this year’s event canvasing opinion with regard to what people would like to see next year. Please look out for one of us (we’ll be wearing Orange reflective jackets) if you would like to tell us what you’d like to see in 2017.
